Welcome to Pui Yin's Acupuncture
Traditional Chinese Medicine . 中醫 . Medicine of the Middle
The history of Traditional Chinese Medicine, through the application of Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, Tuina and Medical Qigong originated around the Shang Dynasty (1600 - 1046 B.C.) and has now been well accepted and practiced over many countries. Its aim is to restore balance through the principles of Yin, Yang, Qi, Blood, Excess and Deficiency etc.
The following are a few but very important main principles and advantages within to Traditional Chinese Medicine:
Principle of Holism
Through its holistic approach, it views human beings having a close relationship with nature, believing that when it is too cold, hot, windy, etc. these can easily invade the body and causes many imbalances in the body. These 'evil influences' are als known as the Six External Pathogenic Factors.
The same principle can be applied when one eats and drinks foods which are not appropriate according to one's constitution. For example, cold from drinking excessive cold drinks can lodge inside the body and therefore may lead to severe menstrual pain.
The acknowledgement on the relationship between emotions and diseases
Another great example of this same principle can be seen on the acknowledgement of any emotions, when in an excessive state, can be cause of disease. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, we call this Internal Pathogenic Factors.
It helps to slow down the mind - in this ever increasingly fast-paced society - a great stress reliever
Nowadays, since most people have a sedentary lifestyle, and with the increasing use of computers and mobile phones, there are continuous stimuli, making the mind mentally overloaded every day, leading to a great increase in stress, but also other mental diseases such as depression and anxiety. Especially Acupuncture has been proven to be effective to calm down the mind and promotes restful sleep.
Flexible and Tailor-made treatment principle - different approach for the same symptom or disease
The tailor-made yet flexible treatment principle and plan - where no treatment is the same. It fights the cause of the disease when the patient has mild symptoms and can fight the symptoms when these are becoming too bothersome to the patient. Usually a treatment treats the cause as well as the symptoms at the same time. But it changes according to the condition of the patient.
It has little to no side effects - and manages side effects from oral medications to invasive surgeries to postpartum births -, and chemotherapy complications
Traditional Chinese Medicine has been working side by side with the regular healthcare system in order to provide the best treatments possible to patients practitioners by ensuring that the body is rebalanced in the best possible way.
